There is Hope

When we look at the news and some of the things happening in the world around us, we might begin to be discouraged and pessimistic. But our God is ‘the source of hope’ (Romans 15:13 NLT), who can replace our despair and disappointment with joy and peace. UCB supporter Shirley shared with us why she has hope for the future.

Growing up in the ‘70s/‘80s, I listened to the radio a great deal and often dreamed of what it would be like to have 24-hour Christian radio and TV – not just for the music but also for the Word of God.

Now that the dream has been realised through the many prayers and support of like-minded people, I think it is our duty to ensure that we are obedient to God in giving back to Him what He has given to us. He has honoured our prayers and enabled this medium of evangelism to come to fruition – not just for our pleasure, but for the lives of our children and grandchildren, and others who have not heard the good news. He should be glorified so the world ‘may know him and the power of his resurrection’ (Philippians 3:10 KJV).

I am an avid UCB Word For Today supporter and received the printed copy in the post for many years and still use it online as the foundation of my devotions and discussions with my husband every day. Bob and Debby Gass are amazing and we thank God for their obedience to Him, in continuing this ministry all these years. I don’t know if they are aware of the impact this ministry has on my family and I’m sure on many others. The UCB Word For Today is anointed. Each day it’s as if God knows what I am going through and speaks directly to me by revealing new insights into His Word and showing me things about myself every day – to God be the glory!

We are living in desperate times, but UCB is providing an antidote to that despair, so there is HOPE! John 14:27 says ‘let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid’ (KJV). Comforting words of Jesus!

The Great Commission from our Lord to His disciples was to ‘go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation’ (Mark 16:15 NIV 2011 Edition). This is still our commission as followers of Christ today!
